Arscott Golf Club	***
Enjoyable undulating parkland course that has hosted several Society competitions. Reasonably priced and has two really good tough finishing holes.
Astbury Hall Golf Club	****
Superbly manicured 9 hole course that hosted 2 events in 2009. The 9th hole has to be one of the best finishing holes we've played in a Society competition.
Bridgnorth Golf Club	**
Felt that this course was overated. Par 3's are good but a lot of the holes seem to be very similar. Expensive for what it is.
Chesterton Valley Golf Club	**
Hosted several Society competitions in the early 90's. Has a bizarre policy of only allowing Societies on with 16 or more players. So we won't be going back!!! Shame as it's a very decent course.
Church Stretton Golf Club	***
You'll either love it or hate it!!! Course starts with three really tough Par 3's. Amazing scenery and offers good value for money. Play it if you haven't already!!!!
Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club	***
Has hosted several Society competitions. Highly enjoyable 3 loops of 9 parkland course. Course plays well in the winter. Offers exceptional value for money.
Hawkstone Park Golf Club	**
The Windmill course hosted a Winter League comp in 09. Enjoyable demanding course that was let down by the awful state of it's greens.
Henlle Park Golf Club	**
A new course that I felt was a bit of alet down. A few good holes sandwiched in between some very mediocre ones. Cheap mind.
Hill Valley Golf Club (Emerald)	***
Really good challenging course that has hosted a couple of Winter League comps. Expensive now mind.
Hill Valley Golf Club (Sapphire)	***
The little sister of the Emerald which has hosted several Winter League comps. Although shorter it could be argued that it is more enjoyable and offers a really decent overall test of golf. Never take it lightly or it will bite you in the a***!!!
Horsehay Village Golf Centre	?

Not played this myself, but only heard really good things about it. Will have to go and find out one day!!!
Llanymynech Golf Club	****
Hosted the Open in 08 and is an exceptional golf course that has to be one of the finest inland courses I've played. One we must return to!!!!

Hosted several Invitiationals in the 90's. A bit of an enigma. A course that has so much potential but has always been let down by it's lack of care when I've played it.

Nice parkland course that offers 3 challenging loops of 9. A favourite wiht Winter Leaguers.

Very good undulating parkland course with some terrific holes. It will possibly host a Society competition in the future. Only down side is that it doesn't have any Par 5's.

Tough undulating parkland course. Nearly killed the favourite in the 2.30 with my tee shot on the 4th!!! Hole for hole is one of the best around. May host a Society comp in the future.

Hosted the Premier Strokeplay between 1993 - 2006. It offers a decent start and a very good demanding finish, but in between it can become a real slog. The 17th hole is a beast, being statistically the toughest Par 4 we've ever played in a Society competition. Reasonably priced and almost always guaranteed to get on for a knock about.
West Midlands Golf Club	***
Hosted two Winter League competitions. Still very raw as it's a new course, but offers a good all round test of golf. Has a great island green Par 3 finishing hole. May find its way onto the Society calendar again in future years.

Hosted a Winter League comp at short notice when Hawkestone was snowed off a few years ago. Starts with three quite ordinary Par 3's but does improve as the round progresses. Would like to return as it was quite wet and difficult to judge it fully as there were some temporary greens. Another that unfortunately has pay up front policy.

Decent short municipal course set on the edge of Sutton Park. Has some great Par 3's. Very cheap but like most municipals has plenty of traffic.

A highly enjoyable, if very demanding, 36 hole course. All four loops offer holes of real quality but all loops are an extremely stern examination of your game. Some of the Par 4's need a 200 yard plus drive to even reach the fairway!!!  Expensive as well.

Enjoyable undulating parkland course, with some very good holes. Would like it to host a Society competition, but is possibly too far for what it offers.
Erewash Valley Golf Club (Derbyshire)	***
Pleasant mature parkland course with two of the best Par 3's you'd likely ever play. Downside is the noise you get from the M1 and the cost.
Marriott Breadsall Priory (Derbyshire)	***
Have only played the Priory which I found to be a good challenging course with several strong holes. Kev and Andy Mc have played the Moorland and rate it highly.
The Branston Golf & Country Club (Derbyshire)	***
Enjoyable, but demanding course, that runs alongside the River Trent. Very expensive but well worth a visit if played on the 2-FORE-1 voucher scheme.
Brookfield Golf Club (Cheshire)	**
Hosted the 2006 Stableford Plate in 2006. A new expansive course, raw in parts, but with some very good holes, especially the Par 5 18th. Excellent value for money and may find it's way back onto the Society calendar in future years.
Ellesmere Port Golf Club (Cheshire)	**
Decent municipal parkland course. Incredibly has a burger van parked near the 10th tee!!! Cheap and has a few good holes.
Cape Cornwall Golf Club (Cornwall)	***
Once owned by a relation of mine, so a bit biased. By the sea, but not a links course. The views are outstanding out towards Lands End. Well worth a visit if you are ever in the area.
Falmouth Golf Club (Cornwall)	***
Super mature parkland course that I once played with two local dockers who were as rough as a bears a***!!! Another that I'd highly recommend if staying locally.
Mullion Golf Club (Cornwall)	****
Excellent links course on the Lizard Peninsula. A course that will test every aspect of your game, very demanding when the wind blows!!!
Perranporth Golf Club (Cornwall)	***
Great links course with outstanding views. Has numerous blind tee shots and severely undulating terrain. A real pleasure to play but can be extremely tough in the wind.
Praa Sands Golf Club (Cornwall)	**
Rather bland and disappointing 9 hole course with extremely small greens near Penzance. Not one I'd recommend.
Bigbury Golf Club (Devon)	***
Highly enjoyable parkland course in the South Hams area of Devon. Has some of the toughest group of Par 3's I've played. Well worth a visit.
Great Torrington Golf Club (Devon)	**
Extremely tight 9 hole course played off eighteen different tees. Found the course really tough, you only need to be out by a fraction and you are severely punished. Cheap mind.
Holsworthy Golf Club (Devon)	***
Enjoyable parkland course. The only 18 hole course that I've ever played without a single bunker on it. The club's website suggest that's changed now. Another I'd recommend to play in the area.
Royal North Devon Golf Club (Devon)	****
Quirky links course near Westward Ho! Is the oldest links course in England. Has some exceptional holes and is very demanding at times. Is really superb value for money if played after 4pm. A must play, but watch out for the sheep and horses!!!
Sparkwell Golf Club (Devon)	**
9 Hole parkland course near Plymouth. A bit of a disappointment as no real holes of any quality. Watch out for those big cats though, several have been spotted in these parts!!!
Thurlestone Golf Club (Devon)	***
Claims to be a links course, but I'd beg to differ. A few holes have a links feel, but I'd suggest it was generally more of a cliff top course. Views are outstanding and worth the green fee alone!!!
Torquay Golf Club (Devon)	***
Highly enjoyable and picturesque mature parkland course. Another that has outstanding views. Well worth a visi.
Cleeve Hill Golf Club (Gloucestershire)	***
Great municipal course, with outstanding views, that is similar in set up to Church Stretton. Not long, but a real challenge in the elements. Offers superb value for money.
Forest of Dean Golf Club (Gloucesterhire)	***
Enjoyable parkland course that has some really strong holes. Well worth playing as offers excellent value for money.
Minchinhampton Golf Club NEW (Gloucesterhire)	***
Has 36 holes set in the heart of the Cotswolds. Played the Avening course and was extremely impressed. Another I'd highly recommend.
Naunton Downs Golf Club (Gloucestershire)	***
A real gem of a parkland course that meanders through the Cotswold countryside. Has some terrific holes and one of the most enjoyable I've played.
Puckrup Hall Golf Club (Gloucestershire)	***
Excellent parkland course near Tewkesbury. Has a terrific closing Par 3 finishing hole. Would love to see it host a Society competition but bizarrely sets a minimum of 16!!!
Ramada Hotel & Resort  (Gloucestershire)	***
Another enjoyable parkland course with two very contrasting 9's. The back 9 is a physically demanding prospoect as the terrain is tough!!! Has to be the only course I've played that warns of adders in the rough on the 16th!!!
Burghill Valley Golf Club (Herefordshire)	**
Pleasant setting in an apple orchard but a course without any real outstanding features. Wouldn't be excited about going back!!!
Kington Golf Club (Herefordshire)	****
A superb golf course with awesome scenery and is the highest in Britain. Hosted two Society competitions in 07 & 08 and the members rave about it. Has a host of quality holes, notably the excellent risk-reward Par 4 18th hole. We will return someday, I've no doubt about that!!!
Leominster Golf Club (Herefordshire)	***
Hosted a Winter League competitions many years ago. I'd rather forget my round here but overall a good undulating parkland course with a few strong holes.
Glen Gorse Golf Club (Leicestershire)	***
Good mature parkland course with a host of terrific holes. Well worth playing.
Hinckley Golf Club (Leicestershire)	***
Enjoyable but demanding parkland course. Expensive but good value for money on the 2-FORE-1 scheme.
Lingdale Golf Club (Leicestershire)	****
This course is a real hidden gem set in Charnwood Forest. Front 9 is tight with several doglegs, whilst the back 9 demands length as several Par 4's are well over 400 yards. Has to be one of the finest courses I've played.
Ullesthorpe Court Golf Club (Leicestershire)	***
Interesting parkland course with several challenging holes. Expensive and can get very busy.
Willesley Park Golf Club (Leicestershire)	***
Good quality mature parkland course near Ashby. Has some excellent holes. Watch out for the local panther lurking in the woods!!!
Leasowe Golf Club (Wirral)	**
Pleasant links course near Wallasey. Has a few challenging holes. Cheap mind.
Royal West Norfolk Golf Club (Norfolk)	*****
What a golf course!!! Has to be the best course I've played in England. Offers a real true test of links golf. It is very tough mind, but each hole offers something different. I teed off and didn't see anyone else on the course until I reached the 15th hole!!! It's expensive but one that you MUST play if ever in the area.

Highly enjoyable mature parkland course. Has some really challenging holes. Par 3's are all very good.

Decent if unspectacular municipal course near Taunton. Cheap but gets extremely busy. Only course I've ever holed two bunker shots in one round on, so can't be all that bad!!!

Enjoyable links course with several quality holes. Well worth a visit if staying in the area.

Rother Valley Golf Centre	***
Interesting undulating parkland course near Sheffield. Has some very good holes, with the Par 3's all offering a stern challenge. Offers good value for money. Nice set up in the clubhouse.
Rotherham Golf Club	****
A superb mature parkland course that is one of my all time favourites. Has a host of excellent holes. Clubhouse is an awesome sight, looks like a castle!!! Staff were all very friendly, which can't be bad for Yorkshire folk!!! A must play if you are ever in the area.

Superb links course with outstanding views. Has some real quality holes. Cheap in comparison to some in the area.
Downfield Golf Club	****
Excellent mature parkland course near Dundee, with some superb holes. It's right in the middle of a rough housing estate, but does not detract from how good this course is.
Eden Course St Andrews	****
A terrific links golf course and one of my all time favourites as it offers something for all levels of ability. Has some great holes. Played the front 9 in level par but would rather forget the back 9!!!
Golf House Club, Elie	****
A wonderful tranquil links course with numerous outstanding holes. First played this in my teens and didn't do it justice, but then sneaked on whilst on holiday in a few years ago and played it for free in torrential rain. Was the only bugger on the course!!! A must play if ever in the area.
Jubilee Course, St Andrews	*****
Another links course of exceptional quality. Like many in the area it has numerous terrific challenging holes.

Get's overlooked by the courses in nearby St Andrews but this is a superb mature parkland course. Certainly one of the toughest parkland course I've played. Margin for error is slight. Take plenty of balls as the rough and gorse can wreak havoc!!! Must play!!!
Letham Grange Golf Club	***
Claims to be Scotland's Augusta. Wouldn't go as far as that but still a delightful course with some scenically challenging holes. Well worth playing.
Monifieth Golf Links	****
Highly enjoyable links course, with some terrific holes. Certainly recommended.
New Course, St Andrews	*****
An awesome, but extremely demanding classical links course. To my mind the best course in St Andrews I've played. A course that has to be on your must play list!!!
Old Course, St Andrews	*****
A round here offers a real taste of golfing history. It is a superb links course that has to be played once in your lifetime. Much tougher than playing it on the Tiger Woods game!!! Walking onto the 18th green, waving to the numerous spectators, is worth paying the expensive green fee alone!!!
Strathtyrum Course, St Andrews	***
Supposed to be the poor relation of the St Andrew's links group. However it is a really enjoyable course that suits golfers of all abilities. Has some very good challenging holes. It's cheap and normally very quiet. Breezed round once in around 2 hours!!!

Great links course with some very demanding holes. Watch out for the local cattle on the 18th fairway!!! Well worth a visit!!!
Chirk Golf Club	***
Enjoyable pay as you play parkland course. Some decent holes and has one of the toughest Par 5's, at over 600 yards, that you are ever likely to play.
Llandudno Golf Club (Maesdu)	***
Good parkland course, that has a few really challenging holes. Worth playing if staying in the area.
Nefyn Golf Club (Old Course)	*****
A truly fantastic cliff top course with the best views I've experienced on a golf course. Hosted the first ever Golfest round in 2007 and one that will live long in the memory!!! Great course and company. What more could you ask for? Will be on the Golfest 2010 rota. Can't wait!!!!
Porthmadog Golf Club	****
Host to the final leg of Golfest 07 and will be repeated in 2010. A great mix of parkland and links golf. The back 9 offers a real challenging test of links golf.
Royal St David's Golf Club	***
Good links course that hosted a round in Golfest 07. Has a host of challenging holes. It is an extremely tough examination that can really wear you down. As Bob commented "It's a bloody wilderness!!!"
Vale of Llangollen Golf Club	*****
I can't rate this course highly enough. It has an awesome setting and hole for hole is one of the most enjoyable courses I've had the pleasure to play. Will host a Golfest 2010 event. Believe me Golfesters are in for a real treat!!!
Woodlake Park Golf, Pontypool	**
Decent if unspectacular undulating American style layout. Greens were the firmest I've ever played on. A course that is "tricked up", not one I'd want to play again!!! Avoid!!!
