The system explained:-
- A players handicap will continue to be adjusted downwards, by 0.1, 0.2 or 0.3 for each shot below a members handicap - dependent on which handicap group a player is in.
- Handicap groups are - GROUP A) 0 - 9.4, GROUP B) 9.5 - 19.4 and GROUP C) 19.5 - 28.0.
- A "buffer zone" is adopted for scores OVER a players handicap. The buffer zone will be dependent on which handicap group a player is in - 0.1 for GROUP A, 0.2 for GROUP B and 0.3 for GROUP C.
- A player, playing above par in a competition, but still within his buffer zone will have no change made to his handicap.
- A player above his buffer zone will have his handicap increased by ONE increment of 0.1, 0.2 or 0.3 (dependent on which handicap group he is in).
- A members club handicap can now also be adjusted upwards, as well as downwards, using the above method. It is the responsibility of a club member to notify the handicapping committee of any changes to his club handicap.
- New members handicaps will be calculated from 2 or 3 cards produced prior to playing in a summer Society competition. These cards can be from general play, but it is more likely that they will be from Winter League competitions where playing as a guest.
